Hoquiam School District Academic & Student Well-being Plan
The Hoquiam School District is required to develop and implement an Academic and Student Well-Being Recovery Plan for the upcoming school year. This plan is required by school districts in response to both federal and state law (under HB 1368), that connect planning for academic and student well-being recovery to eligibility to receive federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) III funds. Each public school district, tribal compact school, and charter school in Washington state is required by the state Legislature and by Congress to create and submit an Academic and Student Well-being Recovery Plan by June 1, 2021. The goal of the plan is to identify which students and student groups need additional academic and well-being supports, define how those supports will be provided, and plan for recovery and acceleration of student learning and well-being over the summer, into the fall, and beyond. Here is a link to OSPI’s press release regarding Academic and Student Well-being Recovery PlansThis plan requires approval from the school board prior to submitting to OSPI on June 1st. We invite the public to review the attached documents and attend our board meeting with comments regarding this plan. The board meeting is schedule for Thursday May 27th at 5:30pm.
