Swimming lessons:

Learning to swim is such an important life skill. We have received a grant this year to have our students go to the YMCA in April and May for eight consecutive days for swimming lessons. Kindergarten students (including TK students) and first grade students will attend on different days depending on the class schedule. Your classroom teacher will send more information when the time gets closer. This opportunity for our students relies heavily on parent/family support as volunteers. If you are able to help by volunteering on the days your child goes swimming or any other day in the classrooms, please contact your child's teacher or stop by the office for the simple background check form to be turned in a couple weeks in advance. Emerson staff value parent partnerships and community connections to help enrich our students lives.

Boots for Bears

Boots for Bears is a charitable/nonprofit group of community members working to support students. Our mission is to provide boots, shoes and essential needs to any and all children (socks, pants coats, etc.). If the organization can help provide clothing items to your child/children, please reach out to Kjersten Kellogg at Emerson Elementary, 360-538-8240 ext. 1112 or kkellogg@hoquiam.net with any needs!

Car Passes During Pick Up

Please be sure that you have your car pass hanging in the front windshield if you are utilizing the drive thru pick after school. This helps to ensure student safety as well as efficiency of our dismissal process.

Communication

Our district is moving to one common communication platform for teachers and parents. Please reach out to your child's teacher for any questions or details on how to get set up on the district system for all students and families at all buildings. This will make it easier for families to use the same platform every year.

Attendance is very important for students' sense of belonging at school. Being on time helps start their day off on a good note as Emerson has many activities and procedures at the very beginning of the day that emphasize sense of belonging for our students. Just a few of these activities include our whole school Teddy Bear Pledge assembly, a warm greeting at the classroom door from their teacher, eating breakfast together as a class, etc. Sometimes, an absence or tardy is unavoidable. Please be sure to call the school office (360) 538-8240 to excuse your child if they need to be absent.
