Dear 4th and 5th grade families,
The RCW 28A.300.475 law requires that all public schools must provide comprehensive sexual health education (CSHE). The Hoquiam instructional review committee and the Hoquiam school board have approved the 3Rs CSHE curriculum for the upcoming school year.
Parents and caregivers have the right to opt their children out of some or all of the CSHE. Parents and caregivers also have the right to review any and all materials related to CSHE that will be used in the classroom. You can access all the Rights, Respect, Responsibility (3Rs) materials from this webpage https:www.3rs.org/download-3rs/. All lesson outlines are available here https://www.dropbox.com/s/xeyxkj1wa6oj1yf/3Rs_ALL_Lesson_Plans.pdf?dl=0 and Washington specific lessons for CSHE are available here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kyinvsp9be2qtl5/AAC3HtL4fazoZumrYg4BuHapa?dl=0. Please keep in mind that the 3Rs website has many lessons posted that will not be part of the Hoquiam scope and sequence.
Our parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 10 , 2026, at 5:00 at Lincoln Elementary in our Library. We will be discussing the lessons that will be taught and the opt out process, if desired. We look forward to seeing you there!
For questions or clarifications, please contact Brianne Barrett, Director of Teaching and Learning at 360-538-8417 or bbarrett@hoquiam.net.
Sincerely,
Jason Ihde, Principal

Dear Lincoln Elementary Families,
Happy Friday Lincoln Lion Families. We have some important activities coming up in the next couple of weeks that I want to make sure are on everyone's radar.
Spring State Testing - Grades 3-5
Our annual state testing begins next week for all students in grades 3-5:
ELA Testing: Tuesday, May 6 and Wednesday, May 7
Math Testing: Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14
Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 AM after breakfast each day. It's crucial that your child attends school on these days and remains until testing is complete. As a special incentive, students who participate in all four testing days as scheduled will have their names entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of two brand new bikes generously donated by Walmart!
Tips for Test Success:
Ensure your child gets a good night's sleep before each testing day
Provide a healthy breakfast, or have them join us for breakfast at school
Offer words of encouragement and remind them to simply do their best
Swimming Lessons - 2nd Grade
Our 2nd grade students will begin swimming lessons next week, Monday through Thursday, and will continue the following week as well. Please remember to send your child with their swimsuit, towel, and any other swimming gear they may need.
Lincoln Music Concert Night - May 12 5:30pm
Mark your calendars for May 12 at 5:30pm Lincoln students will have a wonderful spring concert held at Hoquiam High School in the little theater. Come and celebrate all the musical work that our students have been doing this year.

Cordialmente,
Jason Ihde Director, Escuela Primaria Lincoln
