With the help of some wonderful parent volunteers, Transitional Kindergarten learned how to make applesauce! 🍎🍏 The kids helped every step of the way and enjoyed sampling their treat. 😋 #WeAreHoquiamSD

Miss Andrews' class at Lincoln Elementary had a blast making their ancient Mayan masks. 🧐📜 Ayden, Vice President of ASB, struck a pose that was strikingly similar to his mask! 😜 #WeAreHoquiamSD

What started as a simple collaborative conversation between Jan Magri and Principal Winkelman many years ago has turned into an annual training tradition for all students at Emerson Elementary. 🚌 This partnership with the transportation department helps make our busses safer by teaching students expectations that align to school rules via "Bus School." Thank you to Jan Magri, the Hoquiam Transportation Department, and Emerson staff for the ongoing support of this shared training experience! 🙌 #WeAreHoquiamSD

During football season, team parents and the culinary arts class host a weekly team breakfast for the high school football players. 🥞🥓 Last week, in advance of the homecoming game against the Elma Eagles, some of the Hoquiam Youth Team were invited to serve the “Big Grizzlies.” The look on their Big Grizzlies faces as they entered the room was priceless! These are bonds that will last a lifetime. Love the Grizzly community spirit! 🤩🐻 #WeAreHoquiamSD

1. Work Session on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hoquiam High School Library

2. Regular Meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hoquiam High School Library

Kindergartners at Emerson Elementary went on a hunt to find the numbers 1 through 5 and put them in order. 💭🤔 Then they built each number with cubes. The best moment? Once the cube towers were lined up, so many students said, "They make stairs!" 🪜 That sparked a great conversation about how each number grows by one every time we count on. That's a big idea for little mathematicians! When kids build it, see it, and say it, the learning sticks. 💛🙌 #WeAreHoquiamSD

Mrs. Jones' class received a homemade poster from the Grizzlies high school football team, thanking them for their support! 💌🫶🏈 It's a great reminder that little eyes are watching! 👀 The connection between the high schoolers and younger Grizzlies has been wonderful to see. #WeAreHoquiamSD

Hoquiam Grizzly football players were at Emerson Elementary School on Friday, greeting students as they got off the bus, out of their cars, and entered the school. 🏈👋 Principal Winkelman invited players and students to meet in the gym, so the younger Grizzlies could give the football players a big cheer ahead of their game. 🎉 Sustaining sucessful programs starts with our youngest future potential players, and also our school spirit supporters! As a thank you to owners Ronnie and Lisa Espedal, and the wonderful people at Highlands Golf Course, the HHS boys golf team recently traded clubs and balls for rakes and gloves to clear heavy branches and storm debris around the course, as well as picking stray range balls in the tall grass and trees. ⛳️🙌 For HHS Golf, it’s all about culture—culture of winning, culture of service, and culture of stewardship! ⭐️ #WeAreHoquiamSD

Principal Winkelman would like to say thank you for the collaboration with Boots for Bears and Operation Warm that has made a large donation of warm winter coats for our students at Emerson! 😌 We go out to play rain or shine and this is just what our students need.
